Interest on the part of the Japanese Army in a bomber version of the German Fw-200 Condor following a visit of this aircraft to Japan in 1938 was known to American Intelligence. The Kurier version was originally intended for Japan. It was coded "Trudy" by the Allies and noted as a foreign type "which may appear later". No deliveries were ever made, however.
