Fairchild C-82 Packet picture
The design of the Fairchild C-82 Packet was begun in 1941, with the mockup being approved by the Army in 1942. Development time was only 21 months, resulting in the first flight being taken on September 10, 1944. It was put into production by both Fairchild and North American, but at the end of the war military production was reduced by 80%, and the North American contract was cancelled.
