Junkers Ju.88A-5 (Janice)

Combat sightings of an aircraft similar to the German Ju.88 led to assignment of the code name "Janice" and the type was included in recognition manuals in April 1943. This was close to the truth for although the Ju.88 was never in service with the Japanese, the JNAF had imported one example (which was wrecked on its first test flight). The Ju.88 was similar in appearance to the Kyushu Q1W1 Tokai anti-submarine patrol plane (code named "Lorna"), which can be viewed HERE.
